This contemporary artwork is a figurative painting of Jesus in Rome. This oil painting depicts Jesus holding a sword up, his arm creating the arc of a bridge for souls to pass through. Jesus's face is weary as he wears the crown of thorns. 

This oil painting was painted in my Oslo art studio after a trip to Italy. I visited the Vatican in Rome among other places and this abstract painting  explores history and Rome as a place of power for the Catholic Church.
